Marni Marshall has been inspired by dance since taking ballet and gymnastics as a child. Her mother worked backstage at Atherton Auditorium at S.J. Delta College, and during those years she was able to view countless productions from the lighting booth, backstage and the audience. Her love of the theatrical was cemented during these years. The PBS show "Live From Off Center", which featured cutting edge performers, also sparked an interest in modern dance. After high school, where she took ballet in Stockton with Dorothy Percival, Marni took a hiatus from dance and pursued visual artistic endeavors.

Her love for dance was rekindled and explored through Lovie Bucknell's Modern Dance class through Sierra College in 1998. The Glass Bead Players, and many local Nevada County teachers have also influenced her interests in dance. She has also performed and trained with Air Aligned. She earned her A.A. through Sierra College, and in Spring of 2006 received her B.A. in Studio Art, with a minor in dance, from Sacramento State. In Spring 2006 she performed at Sacramento State University in Faculty and student dance shows, as well as interning for the American College Dance Festival. Marni is fortunate to have taken summer workshops from the Joe Goode Performance Group, Anna Halprin, Stacy Printz and Scott Wells. She is thankful to have dedicated dancers to work with through TMA, and could not have pursued interests in dance to the extent she has without the support of her friends, family and work-family at the New Moon Cafe.
