DIRECTOR of TMA COMPANY & SCHOOL
Lovie Bucknell earned her degrees in Dance and Psychology in 1997 at the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. after a childhood of studying Jazz, African and Belly Dance in Nevada County. 2011 marks Lovie’s 20 year anniversary of working as a choreographer, as 2001 was the year she began choreographing for Magic Circle Dance Theatre of Central Oregon Community College; while being exposed to other high quality and creative modern dance work.
Lovie has enjoyed teaching and developing curricula for Modern Technique and Jazz Fusion classes with Sierra College since 1999 as well as working as the Advisor for the Sierra College Dance Club. Co-founder of The Movement Alliance in 2002; Lovie has studied dance wherever she travels. Most often she has found herself in San Francisco at ODC and The Alonzo King Dance Center, studying under Robert Moses, Bliss Kohlmeyer-Dowman, Lizz Roman, Stacy Printz, Janice Garrett, Joe Goode, Scott Wells, Yannis Anidou, Private Freeman and KT Nelson. When she is not in class in this beautiful city, she is watching her teachers and their companies perform.
In 2008 dreams came true with the opening of TMA School. In 2011 more dreams became a reality with the addition of Holt Ballet Conservatory to TMA School. Currently, Lovie studies Ballet with Mrs. Yelena Holt and Modern Dance with Azriel LaMarca. Lovie is also dedicated to bringing professional dance companies from San Francisco to our area and for performance and master classes twice per year.
Lovie is thrilled that her 3 year old daughter, Elliana, also has a passion for dance.
Lovie teaches Intermediate / Advanced Modern Contemporary Dance and Creative Movement for Toddlers for TMA School.
