TMA School History

The Movement Alliance Dance Theatre Company was founded in 2002 and all the while, Director Lovie Bucknell, Associate Director, Marni Marshall, and Associate Choreographer, Marissa Hernandez dreamed of the idea of a school of dance in which members of the company could double as dance instructors.

In May, 2008, this dream became a reality!

With classes for children, teens and adults; The Movement Alliance School has something for everyone!  Our classes range with Beginning, Intermediate and Intermediate / Advanced levels, with a wide variety including Modern Dance, Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Intro to Dance and Creative Movement For Kids.

The Movement Alliance School of Dance also is a school with social and environmental conscience as our Spring Show-A Theatre in the Round (Apr. 27th, 2010) raised $377 for Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts. We plan to continue our commitment with a benefit show every spring during National Dance Week for different causes.  (National Dance Week is the last ten days of April each year).

Finally, TMA School is proud to offer an academic approach to dance, with emphasis on vocabulary and anatomy / physiology; along with the fun of performance. Instructors of TMA School are proud to have over a decade of dance teaching and production experience and/or degrees in dance including a Minor, or Bachelor of Arts, and/or a Masters in Education. Please see our instructor bio page!
