Azriel LaMarca, a native of Nevada County, grew up studying ballet and drama. She received her BA in Theater Arts with a focus in dance performance and choreography from UC Santa Cruz, under the mentorship of Mel Wong, Sylvia Martins, and Ellie Klopp. Azriel went on to study and perform at the American Dance Festival and in New York City and later performed with the experimental dance theater company, The Zen Monkey Project. Back home, Azriel founded The Glass Bead Players, a collaborative endeavor that produced several evenings of dance theater in Nevada County from 2001-2004. She has taught and choreographed for the Nevada Union High School Theatrical Dance Program since 2000 and for The Movement Alliance since 2009. Most recently, Azriel performed as a guest artist with the Davis based Linda Bair Dance Company.
Azriel teaches Intermediate Modern Dance for Teens and Adults as well as Creative Movement for Kids.
